This program gave me the necessary critical thinking skills for biological research but also introduced me to amazing mentors who helped along the way. With all the great things I learned at HSU, I persued a Master of Science degree at CSU, Channel Islands in Biotechnology and Bioinformatics where I was awarded a CIRM Scholars Internship, which gave me a year-long opportunity to do stem cells research at UC San Diego. While at UC San Diego I worked in an immunology lab studying the ability of human stem cell-derived immune cells (NK cells and Macrophages) to target and kill tumors. After graduating with a Master's degree I was hired as a Research Associate at the same immunology lab to continue my work. I then applied to Ph.D. programs in San Diego and in Fall 2020 I started a Joint Doctoral Program in Cell and Molecular Biology at San Diego State University/UC San Diego.
